Tom received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Florida State University (Go Noles!) and graduated from the SMU Dedman School of Law in 2008. Having worked for Washington Mutual as a residential real estate appraiser before law school, Tom was invited to clerk at Barrett Burke Wilson Castle Daffin & Frappier (now Barrett Daffin Frappier Turner & Engel) during both summers.
Tom became an Associate Attorney at Barrett upon passing the bar exam. He was Associate General Counsel for the firm when he left Barrett to work as in-house litigation counsel for Fidelity National Title. Today, Tom is the managing attorney of Misteli Law Firm, focusing on various transactional and litigated residential real estate matters. He also provides legal services involving wills, trusts, estate planning, probate, business law, and business litigation matters.
Tom is a member of the Dallas Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar College, and the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program. He has been a State Bar's Real Estate Legislative Affairs Committee (RELAC) member since 2011.
If Tom is not in the office, don't look for him on the golf course; his expensive hobby is skiing. He and his wife Michele love to travel, although they don't like leaving their four pugs at home. That travel often involves cheering on Tom's beloved Seminoles or Michele's beloved New Orleans Saints. During hockey season, Tom still mourns the loss of his only hometown sports team from childhood, the Hartford Whalers.
